A Problem Has Been Detected

This page is displayed when RM detects a problem while processing a request.

The problem may be due to user input error, to a DM processing or communications error, or to an internal DM Classic Webtop error. When this occurs, an error-specific message will be displayed, identifying the type of problem and including a brief explanation of the problem and any possible solutions.

For example, the following message may be encountered when attempting to borrow an item:

Error making the Loan. SERVER01: FusionRM: Specified barcode for the doc doesn't exist, problem for borrow.

Why would this occur? Before a paper document can be borrowed, a barcode must be assigned to the document in order to track it through the system. In this case, the document that was selected to be borrowed was a paper document that had not yet had a barcode assigned to it by the RM administrator.

Additional, detailed error information (including applicable network paths and DM error codes) may also be displayed at the bottom of the screen beneath the legend “The following information is provided in case it is needed to diagnose the problem.

If the error becomes a recurring issue (perhaps as the result of a network or server problem) retain the information provided on this screen for use by your DM or RM administrator. Using the Print function on your Web-browser (select CTRL+P on most systems) is the easiest way to create a hard copy of the error message for future reference.
