The Document Download for Internet Explorer page allows you to save the document file to your local disk, even when the document is recognized by the Microsoft Office suite.
This step is necessary because Internet Explorer dynamically detects a Microsoft Office document by reading the byte stream and automatically invokes the appropriate application for the document.
It does this regardless of the document disposition specified by the DM Classic Webtop in the HTTP MIME type, and you are not given the option of choosing to save the file to disk rather than opening it.
By right-clicking the provided link and selecting Save Target As..., you bypass this feature.
