View Folder Contents

When you click on a folder in a list, the Folder Contents page is displayed. On the Folder Contents page you can view a list of the documents and sub-folders that are part of the selected folder, add and remove items from the folder, and perform actions with items in the folder.

You can perform these actions on the Folder Contents page:

  • Print List: Displays the Print List window with the contents formatted for printing. Select Print from your browser's File menu.

  • Create Folder: Create a new folder and add it to the contents of the currently selected folder.

  • Import Document: Import a native file to the current folder.

  • Add Items: Displays the Search window so you can search for and select existing items to add to the folder. If you select a single item, the Folder Item Property Update window is displayed for you to fill out. If you select more than one item to add to the folder from the Search Results tab, the most recent versions are linked to the folder with their Document Name set as the Display Name.

Note: When working with RM, you cannot add a File Part to a Folder, nor can you add a Folder to a File Part.

  • Restore Default Order: Restores the default order of items in the contents list after you have sorted items by clicking on the list column headings.

  • Actions Menu: Use the Actions Menu to perform functions against items in the list. Click the Actions Menu in an item's row to perform actions against a single item. Select multiple items in the folder and click the Actions Menu on the toolbar to perform actions against multiple items.

  • Actions specific to items within folders include:

    • Remove: Removes the selected item(s) from the folder. The item will still exist in the DM Library.

    • Update Property: Displays the Folder Item Property Update window in order for you to change the Display Name for the item or change what version is linked to the folder. See Update an Item's Properties.

Click on a column heading to sort items alphabetically by the selected column. Click on a column heading a second time to sort in reverse-alphabetical order. The sort order you set will apply to all folders that you view. For example, when you sort one folder alphabetically by Edit Date, all folders you view will be sorted alphabetically by Edit Date. DM Classic Webtop remembers the sort order you set and uses that sort order when you next log on.

Click Modify Columns to modify the columns displayed on the Folder Contents page. See Modify the Search Results Columns for instructions.

Click Profile to display the Folder Details page. The Folder Details page displays folder details including Profile, History, Where Used, Related Items and, if it has been enabled by your DM administrator, Notification information. See View Folder Details. The Folder Details page also features the Edit Contents tab where you can change the order of the items in the folder. See Edit Folder Contents for instructions.
